Synopsis
Welcome to 1950s Pittsburgh, where Troy Maxson—a garbage collector with a past as a star in the Negro Leagues—is trying to hold his family together while wrestling with the pain of dreams deferred by systemic racism. His frustrations spill over, shaping his relationships with his wife, children, and closest friend. As Troy builds a physical fence around his home, he also constructs emotional barriers that threaten to push away those who love him most. This Pulitzer Prize-winning play dives deep into themes of love, duty, family, and the long shadow of racial inequity, offering a raw and honest look at one man’s battle with his past and his hope for the future.
